We discover how water became a major flash point between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, witness the playing of the Siachen glacier conflict between India and Pakistan, and go undercover to observe the proliferation of water thieves in Karachi. We also examine the impact of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “Billion Tree Tsunami”, Pakistan’s bold bid to mitigate worsening climate change.

This is the documentary film covering for over 15 years of the battle of patients who are still in trial over the compensation and took 5 years of editing to complete the film. In the context of an ever-growing industrialization of agriculture, the use of chemical pesticides and genetically modified seeds, but it is women, who, connected to earth through bounds of sisterhood, take on the role of protectors.

A farmer in Naganuma town in Hokkaido has begun activities to bring back the Japanese crane that had been gone more than 100 years ago. The scheme was to revive the waterlines in the retarding basin created as against flood and to breed cranes. As the vacant land gradually turned into a wetland, different animals came and conversely caused agricultural damage. There were also cases that a photographer with bad manners chased a crane. Meanwhile, two miraculous cranes descended.

Iitate Village in Fukushima Prefecture in Japan is the place where all the villagers were evacuated due to radiation pollution. The evacuation order was lifted after six years from the great earthquake. Kenichi Hasegawa, former dairy farmer who lives in a temporary dwelling, is forced to decide whether to return to his hometown. Thereupon he travels to Chernobyl in Russia where has been 30 years after the nuclear accident. What he saw was a town where people disappeared and abandoned houses in a forest. Mr. Hasegawa met Samosely (voluntary returnee) who live in the exclusion zone. He found that Samosely is his future self… Life on the polluted land would force them to “coexist with radioavtivity”, but there is still his home land. His descendants may return to this land in 100 or 200 years. He sow the field with buckwheat seed today for that day. This is the Chapter 6 of Samosely in the Iitate Village who keep the word of last wish of a fellow dairy farmer who lost his life suffered from the nuclear accident left a will as “Please do your best and don’t lose to the nuclear plant”

Shiretoko area in Hokkaido has been registered as a World Natural Heritage Site for 15 years. In the innermost depths of Shiretoko, there is a densely populated area of brown bears called Rusha and the film recorded the life of something no one in the world had never been seen before for over 36 year period that is coexistence of brown bears with human being. The main character of the film is the one and only old fisherman in the world who scolds and drives away wild brown bears. Through his lifestyle, the film illustrate Japanese unique view of nature that “human beings are only a part of the nature”. I think this is an indispensable idea for building up a sustainable society.
